Physicists Recreated the Way a Spinning Black Hole Leaks Energy, on a Tabletop

Researchers at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center have shown that a stationary tabletop circuit can amplify electromagnetic waves by mimicking the energy-extraction physics associated with rotating black holes. The ring-shaped network of rapidly modulated electronic resonators produced 7.8 dB of gain without any moving parts, and the results were published July 8 in Nature []
